I am absolutely appalled by this incident. A priest from our home church of St. Nicholas Cathedral was brutally attacked on Monday afternoon when he got lost in a rough part of downtown Tampa. He stopped to ask for directions and a Marine reservist attacked him with a tire iron because he said he looked like a terrorist.I mean seriously? Has it really come to the point where a man cannot have a beard without being accused of looking like a terrorist?? His attacker, Jason Bruce, is a disgrace to Marine Corp and I hope the discharge him. He is supposed to be protecting our countrymen not beating them to near death. Shnazzy stuff huh? I am beyond disgusted with this fella.
I hope the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese raises a ruckus because if they don't the people of our community will. This is a hate crime and an absolute atrocity.

Read the full article along with the attackers pitiful allegations. Please keep them both in your prayers, Fr. Alexios for a speedy recovery both mentally and physically and that God brings his attacker to repentance.

That is awful. Great post though, thank you for letting us know about it. I hadn't heard anything here in Cleveland about this attack, isn't that a shame in itself?
if one american christian-orthodox linving near the prison of this guy. It's a good time to go visit him and expain wath is Orthodoxy.
