Go Green Lunch Box

Did you know a typical American child generates 67 pounds of lunch packaging waste each school year?

With school in full swing now I decided to take a look at the different ways I can reduce waste in our home.

My worst offense? Using Ziploc baggies for everything. I am the Ziploc queen. I pack toys, snacks, loose nails, card games, crayons, craft projects and more in them. You name it, it's in a Ziploc bag.

I do reuse many of them but this year with Ace in Kindergarten I wanted to try and eliminate as much of that waste as possible. One thing that helps is packing a bento box lunch. But as much fun as I have with them, I only have time to make them once or twice a week. I've tried packing his food in different plastic containers but they don't always fit in his lunch box or he accidentally throws a lid away, etc. What to do, what to do?

Recently I was offered a chance to review a Go Green Lunch Box. It was the answer to my problem! These incredible lunch boxes are every "green mothers" dream come true!

They have 5 different sized compartments that are perfect for a sandwich, vegetable, fruit, snack and the aluminum water bottle that comes with the lunch box.

It snaps closed on all four sides and has a turn n' twist lock on top to ensure everything is sealed with a soft silicon band to prevent foods from leaking into each other and it ensures freshness.

The aluminum drink bottle and plastic food container come right out and are top-rack dishwasher safe. The outer lunch bag has a protective non-toxic coating that wipes clean with no hassle!

And if that wasn't great enough, each lunch box has a mini dry erase board so you could leave your child a note or reminder! (I think this is my favorite part) :)

I can't say enough about these lunch boxes! I had wanted one of these for awhile but was hesitant because they're a little more than your average lunchbox and unless I can hold something in my hand and see for myself, I'm a hard person to sell. But I can assure you this lunch box is worth every penny! Plus, it pays itself off within the first month you use it from the money you save on plastic baggies, paper bags, juice boxes, etc.

Every parents would want their kids to be healthy and eat healthy food. But if kids find food boring, they wont eat it. To make them eat, one should add variety in their lunch box like one can give their kids fruits cup cakes and muffins with low calorie, try sandwich of different shapes of brown bread, brown rice with vegetable, dry fruits like apricots, raisins, prunes etc. Trying all these tips, kids would enjoy eating.

Before the start of the school year, I researched almost everyday frantic looking for a lunch box like this! My search showed me bento boxes but I had the same thought- my kids would loose the lids, leave the containers in school. It did matter since the prices are high for these products. The Go Green Lunch box looks like a great alternative. But for $30 a piece I will wait till the price drops or they have a special discount. Thanks for sharing!
